From the South
From the north side of the York ring road (B1237) take the B1363 sign posted to Helmsley. Follow this road for approx 5 miles until you reach a T junction in the village of Sutton-on-the-Forest, turn right and on reaching a roundabout turn left towards Stillington, on reaching the next T junction in Stillington turn right; after half a mile the road bends left with a garage forecourt and fish & chip shop on the left, at this point turn right towards Sheriff Hutton & Farlington. The darkrooms are approximately 300yds along on the left in the Home Farm business area.
From the North & West
Take the A19 from Thirsk towards York and at the second roundabout signposted towards Easingwold head towards Easingwold and turn right towards Stillington signposted Stillington, Helmsley and Crayke. At the end of Stillington Main Street the road bends left with a garage forecourt and fish & chip shop on the left, at this point turn right towards Sheriff Hutton & Farlington. The Darkrooms are approximately 300yds along on the left in the Home Farm business area.
There is ample car parking space available in front of the darkrooms.
Adjacent to the darkroom there are tea and coffee making facilities and a WC.
Stillington has two pubs: The White Bear, with traditional pub food and The Bay Tree with a more upmarket menu, and pizza take-away. In addition, there is a Bangladeshi tandoori restaurant (the Gulshan Tandoori), a fish and chip shop, post office and stores.
The market town of Easingwold, four miles away, offers a wide range of shops and services, including banks and a supermarket, as well as a weekly market on Friday mornings and a monthly Farmers market on Wednesday mornings.
Reliance bus service 40 runs every hour from York Exhibition Square to Easingwold via York Hospital, Sutton-on-the-Forest, Huby, Stillington and Crayke. From the bus stop in Stillington, Vale of York Darkrooms are a pleasant ten minute walk through the village, turning right at the Village Hall and heading out for approximately 500 yards on the road signposted to Farlington.
